Retire Out Loud. On Your Terms.
Real retirement planning information and tools developed for women who refuse to wing it, settle for it, or stay quiet about it.
Retirement planning isn't built for women. We're building it.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room: women retire differently from men. Why? Because we earn less income over our lifetime. We typically take on the responsibility of caring for our children when they're young and our parents when they're old. And we tend to live longer than men. Together, the career interruptions and reduced earnings mean smaller retirement account balances.
Redefine Your Retirement exists to give a voice to the real issues women face. Our goal is to provide women with a forum to candidly discuss retirement-related issues that have been vetted and thoroughly researched.
Where should you start?
Most of us don't think about retirement until it's almost here. Then we panic. We Google. We hunt for the resources we missed. We get hit with conflicting advice from people trying to sell us something. And we still don't know if we're going to be okay.
Redefine Your Retirement is your safe space. We give you tools. We give you information. We're not beholden to advertisers. We're not beholden to sponsors. Everything on this site is free — because information should be shared, not sold. When you have the right information, you make better decisions. And when women make better decisions about retirement, we all rise.

FAQs
Is this site really free?
Yes. Everything on Redefine Your Retirement is free — the tools, the articles, the calculator, the planning resources. No paywalls. No "sign up to unlock." No upsells to a $5,000 coaching program. We're not beholden to advertisers or sponsors. Information should be shared, not sold.
Are you a financial advisor?
No — and that's the point. We don't sell financial products, manage your money, or earn commissions when you make decisions. What we do bring is 40+ years of experience in retirement and employee benefits administration — including senior roles at New York Life Insurance Company, the American Council on Education, NRECA, and DC Government. So while we're not advisors, we know the retirement system inside and out, from the institutional side most people never see. We give you the tools, language, and information to make your own decisions. If you decide you need a financial advisor, great — but you'll walk into that conversation knowing what to ask and what to watch out for.
I'm starting late. Is it too late for me?
No. The best time to start retirement planning was 20 years ago. The second-best time is right now. Most of the women who land here are starting later than they wish they had — and most of them have more options than they realize. Start with the PROS+ Calculator. See where you actually stand.
Why is this site focused on women?
Because our founder is a woman who has spent over 40 years watching how women retire — and it's vastly different from how men retire. Smaller balances, longer lifespans, more career interruptions, more caregiving, and less of the institutional knowledge that traditional retirement advice assumes you already have. This site exists to help close that gap and speak honestly to the issues that impact women. The traditional retirement playbook wasn't written with us in mind. We're writing one that is.
